Paulette McWilliams. You have already heard her voice. For a significant part of her career, its sound graced the recordings of Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Luther Vandross and Celine Dion, among others. A Woman’s Story, her most recent recording, brings her voice to the foreground – showcasing her brilliance as an interpreter of beautifully meaningful songs. Her incredible musicianship is enveloped by the arrangements and production of two-time Grammy winner, Kamau Kenyatta. Drummer Terreon Gully (Dianne Reeves, Stefon Harris and David Sanborn), harmonica player Grégoire Maret (Herbie Hancock and Pat Metheny) and Grammy winning trumpeter Curtis Taylor (Gregory Porter and Billy Childs) also help to create an elegant musical environment for Paulette’s one-of-a-kind artistry. “A Woman’s Story” reimagines the music of Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway and Luther Vandross – all musical partners from Paulette McWilliams’ storied career. Among the other composers she interprets are Janis Ian and Phoebe Snow. Her exquisite and personal reading of their melodies and lyrics is not to be missed…
